Full description

Two Amazonian ecosystems in one expedition. Walk the primary rainforest of terra firme with Ticuna guides, then travel by private boat to the flooded forest of Yavarí and Sacambú, on the Peruvian side of the border.

In Arara you learn about the community’s traditions, dances, crafts, food and daily life. In Sacambú you navigate and walk through rivers, lakes and flooded forest, join a fishing activity and visit a Peruvian community. You may spot dolphins, caimans, arapaima and other species — sightings and catches are not guaranteed.

Choose your duration

About two and a half days in Ticuna territory and two and a half days in Sacambú. Includes one night at a jungle camp, one night at the guides’ home in Arara and two nights in Sacambú.

Itinerary

Primary rainforest

Depart Casa de las Palmas at 9:00 a.m. Hike into the forest with Ticuna guides and learn about survival techniques and wildlife tracking. Camp overnight in a hammock with a mosquito net.

Day 4

Fishing and flooded forest

Day 5
