How much does an Amazon tour from Leticia cost?
A real answer with real numbers: what our 2026 tours cost per person, why the price changes so much between travellers, and where you can save without ruining the trip.
Updated November 2026
Short answer: a one-day tour from Leticia starts at COP 230.000 (about US$55) per person in a group of eight, and a three-day jungle trip from COP 900.000. A solo traveller pays roughly double, because the boat, the fuel, the guide and the food are the same whether one person or eight are on board.
That is why you will see prices everywhere from "50 dollars" to "1,500 dollars" for what looks like the same trip. This guide explains the difference with our own rates, not with marketing ranges.
Why the same tour has so many prices
Four things move the number, and none of them is arbitrary.
- Group size. This is the big one. A boat does not cost less because it carries one person. Divide the fixed cost by eight and the price per person collapses.
- Days and nights. Each extra day adds fuel, food, a guide and a bed. A three-day tour is not three times a one-day tour, but it is roughly 2.5 times more expensive than the one-day version of the same route.
- Distance and border. Trips that cross into Peru or Brazil (Yavarí–Sacambú, Full Jungle) burn much more fuel: three to five hours by boat each way instead of twenty minutes.
- Shared or private. A private departure means you pay the whole boat. Shared departures are where the low prices come from.
Our 2026 prices, per person
All prices are in Colombian pesos (COP) per person. The first figure is the price for a group of 8, the second is what a solo traveller pays. Everything in between scales with the number of people. **The 8-person rate is the floor**: if an open group takes one or two extra travellers, the price per person does not go any lower.

What is included, and what is not
Our prices include the things you would otherwise have to organise on the river: transport, food, drinking water, a guide, rubber boots, hammock and mosquito net when the tour sleeps in the forest, and basic assistance insurance. The deposit is US$50 per person by card; the balance is paid at our office before departure.
- Not included: the Leticia airport entry tax (around COP 50.000, paid at the airport), drinks, tips, personal gear and travel insurance.
- Cards: accepted with a 3% surcharge. Cash and bank transfer have no surcharge.
- Cancellation: free up to 5 days before the tour.
How to spend less without ruining the trip
- Travel with people. Two or three travellers already cuts the per-person price in half compared with going alone. Ask us: we often join travellers on the same dates.
- Book direct. Platforms charge the operator 20–30% commission and the price you see includes it. Booking with us on WhatsApp costs the same or less for you and much less for the local guides.
- Choose one long tour instead of three short ones. Three one-day tours cost more than one three-day tour with the same nights.
- Sleep in the hostel on the first and last night. You do not need a jungle night to "feel" the Amazon; you need one good day.
- Do not cut the guide. A cheaper boat without a local guide is the one place where saving always shows.
Colombia vs Peru vs Brazil
Tours from Iquitos (Peru) and Manaus (Brazil) are usually more expensive in absolute terms, but they also include longer flights or boat transfers. From Leticia, the advantage is that you are already on the river: no domestic flight to reach the jungle, and within one morning you can be in flooded forest. For a short trip, Leticia is usually the cheapest gateway to the real Amazon — as long as you are comparing per person, per night.
Quick questions
How much is a 1-day Amazon tour from Leticia?
From COP 230.000 per person in a group of 8, up to COP 520.000 for a solo traveller. It includes transport, lunch, a local guide, boots and insurance.
How much is a 3-day jungle tour?
Between COP 900.000 (Yavarí–Sacambú, group of 8) and COP 2.680.000 (Full Jungle, solo). The Ticuna 3-day tour is COP 1.050.000 – 1.450.000.
Why is a solo traveller so much more expensive?
Because the boat, the fuel, the guide and the food are fixed costs. With 8 people those costs split 8 ways; alone you pay all of it.
Do you charge a commission for card payments?
Yes, 3%. Cash and bank transfer have no extra charge.
How do I pay?
A US$50 deposit per person by card to confirm, and the balance at our office before departure. Cancellation is free up to 5 days before.
Is it cheaper if we are more than 8 people?
No. Open groups can take one or two extra travellers if the rest of the group agrees, but the per-person price does not go below the group-of-8 rate. For larger private groups, ask us for a quote.
Is it cheaper to book through an agency?
No. Platforms add 20–30% commission. Booking direct with the operator is the same price or less.
